In an interview in London, Justin Bieber told a bizarre tale about losing his Rolex in Las Vegas. No, he didn't lose it gambling. In fact, he deftly circumvented the question of how the expensive timepiece got "lost." He did however reveal that the watch had been a gift, and that he'd told the person who gave it to him that he'd somehow misplaced it. Ouch. He'd promised to get a new identical watch which he and his "friend" would pretend was still the original. And then they would never mention it or the incident again. Okay. Of course, the question is: Who was the generous unidentified friend who gifted him with the watch? Was it Selena Gomez?
As you can see on the video below, Justin spoke with a British accent. For some reason, the interviewer asked Biebs to use the faux Mayfair accent throughout the interview which he did. It wasn't bad. Not exactly Lawrence Olivier, but not bad.
"It was a present, that's why it's such a bad thing," JB explained. "I'm going to get another one and I'm going to be like: 'This is not the one you got me and I'm going to treat it like the one you got me. The person knows but I'm going to get another one and replace it and we're never going to talk about it again."
Well, that clears that up. Sort of.
What it doesn't clear up is whether or not the lost Rolex was a gift from Justin Bieber's Spring Breakers star girlfriend. Obviously, the person who gave him the watch was very close and extremely important to him. It's also interesting that JB seems to be greatly amused while telling the story. Is it a prank? Or is he smiling because he's so relieved that the mystery gifter won't be angry and will never talk about it again?
In a recent interview of her own, Selena Gomez described both herself and her famous "Boyfriend" as "hopeless romantics." A new Rolex is a pretty romantic gift.
What do you think?
