Poor Usher. His latest album, "Looking 4 Myself" is being panned by critics not because of the music, but because of the lame lyrics. Maybe he should jump off the Bieber bandwagon and get back to his roots?
His albums have been criticized for lameness since "Here I Stand" was released more than four years after his biggest hit "Confessions" in 2004. Curiously, that was around the same time he went in to the "discovering new artists" business and came up with Justin Bieber. The world knows how that went.
But, according to the Huffington Post anyway, it looks like Usher has lost his touch for smooth coolness and is falling down on street cred lyrics that show a little of his bad ass side.
Case in point? Number 1 of a 13 entry list showcasing the sad demise of his lyrical skills: "Girl you are my sugar shop, love you like a lollipop / From the bottom to the top, Imma get you wet, raincoat / Let me be your body soap" ("Can't Stop Won't Stop")
Body soap? What's next? Metrosexual pantyhose?
Still, the article does include some die-hard fans who don't care what Usher says on his albums. They just love his music. So, the only question is: when does the world find the next Justin Bieber?
