Niall Horan and Harry Styles recently did an interview with Johnjay and Rich, and it's obvious which One Direction singer the radio hosts saw as the bigger star.
Harry was happily greeted by name, and the hosts eagerly took photos with him for their Facebook profiles. Meanwhile poor Niall played ca
meraman.
The interview did not get off to a good start for the only Irish member of the band when he was mistaken for Liam Payne—he was referred to as Liam multiple times throughout the interview even though he introduced himself as Niall. At one point he even corrects Johnjay and Rich by saying, "I'm Niall."
There's been lots of talk in the past about how Harry Styles is the biggest star in One Direction, but it really seems like this might just be a misconception perpetuated by the press—if you ask most Directioners, they love Harry, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne equally. In other words, there is no Justin Timberlake in 1D.
But Johnjay and Rich didn't get that memo. Most of their questions were very Harry-centric. Hazza talked about his new tattoo and a very manly problem—he suffers from sweaty eyes when he gets emotional. He was also asked how he styles his hair. This is when Harry revealed that he really does want to lop his mop-top off, and who can blame him? Under the bright lights of a stage, all that hot hair probably gives him a real bad case of sweaty eyes. However, the interviewers inform Harry Styles that cutting his hair would be a bad idea because of what happened when Justin Bieber changed up his 'do. However, Beliebers didn't stop loving the Biebs after he got a haircut.
Judging from the YouTube comments below the video of the interview, Directioners were having a hard time paying attention to what Harry was saying during the interview because of Niall Horan getting called Liam. Commenter marsbarbie99 wrote, "Not only does he get the names wrong, most of the questions were asked for Harry.. Like I LOVE Harry soooooooo much but come? on.. Harry gets soo much attention and niall just stands there listening to him and adding on to what Harry says." There are hundreds of similar comments about the video.
So hopefully interviewers take note—they need to get the guys' names right even if it means making flash cards with their faces, and all One Direction members are equal in the eyes of Directioners.
You can check out the interview below. Niall gets called Liam at the 1:20, 2:14, 4:53, and 11:36 marks. The 2:14 mark is where Niall corrects the interviewers (they never acknowledge or apologize for their mistake).
