Tuesday night's new episode of Teen Mom showed some very emotional situations. Not only did Farrah Abraham visit Sophia's father's grave, but Catelynn and Tyler also visited with their daughter, Carly. Maci Bookout dealt with taking Bentley to daycare, but it was Amber Portwood who faced the most harrowing situation—a suicide attempt.
The second show opened with viewers hearing Gary Shirley's call to 911, letting them know about Amber's intentions. To say the least, she was going through a tough time, but why would she try to kill herself? In a recent interview, she answered those questions.
She revealed that over a three-day-period, she ingested over 30 Suboxone pills, to which she was addicted. Amber admitted that she felt a lot of pressure for being in the public eye, something that is understandable. Not only has she allowed cameras to capture her life, but she has also had to endure an immense amount of criticism. She even revealed that the money and access to drugs made her addiction that much harder to overcome.
However, it wasn't just the pressure or the money, but also many other factors. Amber said, "You know, I was very depressed, all alone, all bitter at everybody. I felt like that wasn't the life I wanted to live, I felt like I'd rather do my time, and get it over with, and make the best out of the situation that's been handed to me."
This season of Teen Mom is going to be incredibly hard to watch knowing all of the details of Amber Portwood's experiences. Fans (and even her fellow cast mates) are still rooting for her, hoping that she is able to overcome her demons and addictions. If nothing else, she owes it to her daughter, Leah, to clean up her act. Watching the première, it was obvious how much that little girl loves her momma and, while Amber Portwood may not be around for a few years, she is doing what she thinks is best.
