Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are engaged, to the surprise of pretty much everyone. But no one is more astonished that Liam's ex-girlfriend—the one he left behind when he started dating Miley. "I'm not going to lie, I'm a little surprised," Laura Griffin tells Celebuzz, in an exclusive interview.
Okay, shocked might be a better word. "Hearing your high school sweetheart — who is the same age as you — is getting married, is a shock." Laura Griffin is 22, the same age as Liam, and she lives in Melbourne, Australia. That's generally true, especially for people barely out of their teens. She and Hemsworth were close in high school. Ah, the good old days, and the trail of broken hearts a good-looking male may have left behind.
Miley Cyrus, of course, is still in her teens. At 19 she is legally an adult, but painfully young for marriage. Anyway, Laura Griffin is most upset, it seems, because she heard the news from the media, just like everyone else. What once was hers, is now rich, famous, and getting married to someone else who happens to be a gorgeous celebrity. Life can be cruel sometimes, but should he have sent her a text message? That sounds even worse.
Laura is taking the news of the engagement well. "Of course it hurts seeing someone I spent so many years with moving on," she says, "But at the same time if they are in love and are happy why not? I'm very happy for him."
