Niall Horan might seem way too sweet to be a heartbreaker, but he definitely devastated his ex-girlfriend Holly Scally when he broke up with her.
Beautiful blonde Holly met Niall when she was just 13, so she and the One Direction singer probably experienced just how powerful puppy love can be when they finally started dating three years later. But unfortunately then-18-year-old Niall was pursuing his dream of becoming a pop star, and he was realizing just how much time getting to the top can take.
So after just nine months together, Niall broke things off, basically blaming The X Factor for the split (see just how much of an evil mastermind Simon Cowell is?).
Niall Horan isn't alone in breaking a girl's heart because of 1D. Louis Tomlinson broke up with Hannah Walker when the band started getting too busy, and Harry Styles probably split with Caroline Flack in part because of all the negative publicity their relationship was getting. But then there's Zayn Malik, who spent his time on The X Factor dating contestants Geneva Lane and Rebecca Ferguson (watch out, Perrie Edwards - Zayn seems to have a short attention span). Liam Payne was the only One Direction member whose appearance on The X Factor helped him getting truly lucky in love - he met Danielle Peazer and has been with her ever since.
But back to Niall. Holly Scally told her ex she was "cool" with him breaking up with her because he never got to see her while competing on The X Factor, but according to NOW Magazine, this is what she said about her true feelings:
"I think he felt bad because he kept saying: "I'm so sorry." I tried to sound like it was no big deal but it was a bit sad for me. I liked him more than I'd let on. I missed him but we still talked on Skype and we met up whenever he was back."
So while some Directioners are jealous of any girl who has gotten the chance to date one of the guys, surely all of Niall Horan's fans can feel a little sympathy for Holly Scally - it always hurts to have someone decides that their career is more important than you.
