Portia de Rossi, wife of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, has been cast in the upcoming TV reboot of The Munsters called Mockingbird Lane. She will play the role of Lily Munster.

According to a report from TV Guide, de Rossi--who legally took Ellen DeGeneres' last name on their anniversary a year or two ago--will star alongside Jerry O'Connell, who will play her husband Herman Munster.

The Arrested Development star will work to bring back to life the role first made famous in the 1960s by Yvonne De Carlo. Do you think Portia has what it takes to play Lily Munster?

The core elements of the original TV series The Munsters will remain intact in the re-imagining of the series with a modern-day twist. The one-hour long drama is being created by Brian Fuller of Pushing Daisies and is directed by Bryan Singer.

So it's going to be like "Desperate Housewives" only with Munsters? I'd be willing to give it a chance just because Bryan Fuller's shows like "Daisies," "Wonderfalls," and "Dead Like Me" are usually pretty creative, far more so than most of the crap on TV. Anyway, if you don't think she can be a vampire, just watch her on "Better Off Ted" which is probably still on Netflix Instant.
