While still officially a member of the Dallas Mavericks everyone expects the team to either trade or release Lamar Odom before the start of NBA free agency. How will the marriage to Khloe Kardashian work for and against him?
Khloe's loyalty is opposite to sister Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
The true test of marriage strength doesn't come when things are good. People saw Odom and Kardashian happy when he was winning championships and she was raking in millions off her business and television stardom. Real marriage bonds get proven through the hard times when things don't go well at work or at home. The year 2011 was the perfect example for the Khloe & Lamar bandwagon. Not only did the NBA star witness two deaths in mere weeks but he also endured the worst season of his basketball career. Meanwhile his wife got swamped by the backlash of her husband's struggles, an issue that has caused many women to leave their men throughout history. Not Khloe Kardashian. Unlike her sister Kim Kardashian and her former man Kris Humphries, Khloe says leaving her husband isn't in her makeup. They have stayed together every day since they met and she never had plans to separate or divorce him. That kind of steady loyalty is exactly what Lamar Odom at 32 years old needs to regain the form that made him a star. The question is will any team take him after last season?
U.S. Olympics Team might help Odom back to the Los Angeles Lakers
A few months ago, Odom told reporters it was one of his dreams to play on the United States team in the upcoming London Olympics. With selection coming up, the former Sixth Man of the Year appeared to reporters "looking incredible" physically. His off time after getting benched during the season apparently paid off. His nagging injuries healed and allowed him to focus on massive cardio and lifting work. Sources say he's easily in the best shape of his career and just in time for elections to the U.S. team. Odom is also helped by the rash of injuries around the league to stars like Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert. There losses could become his gain if he flashes the form that won two rings. There is also a quiet undercurrent that hints Odom wants to use a hopeful gold medal in the London Games to increase his value in NBA free agency. One team that might have interest if he does well is the team that traded him in the first place, the Los Angeles Lakers. With players like Pau Gasol in danger of leaving the former powerhouse needs players around star Kobe Bryant they can trust. If Odom can straighten out his personal and pro issues they could bring him back.
Khloe Kardashian doesn't care where Lamar Odom goes as long as they're together. Her loyalty shows just how different they are from Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. The first step for the basketball big man to get back on track is find a way to show teams like the Los Angeles Lakers he can still play. The Long Olympics seems like the perfect chance.
