Private Practice fans, have you heard the news? Kate Walsh is leaving. Will season six be the last of the spicy Grey's Anatomy spinoff?
According to Yidio, Walsh confirmed rumors of her departure earlier this week 
on the Huffington Post, stating that this upcoming season is to be her final one on Private Practice. Walsh signed a 13-episode contract with the show. Whether or not next season will be the show's final season or not is still to be determined.
According to the show's producer, Shonda Rhimes, the show is facing budget issues, and whether next season will be a short final season is still up for negotiations. Rhimes mentioned that whether the show is still viable or not needs to be determined before a final decision is made.
Walsh's departure is the second one fans have had to face in the last month. On May 30, a tweet from Walsh's costar, Tim Daly, who plays Pete on the show, announced that his character won't be on the show at all next season. According to CinemaBlend.com, Daly's fate was "up in the air" toward the end of season five. Fans of Pete's will be disappointed to see him go, as his character was possibly about to get back together with his on-air wife, Violet, played by Amy Brenneman.
Fans of Kate Walsh's character, Addy, will be disappointed to see her depart as well. At the end of season five, Addy finally had her wish of being a mother fulfilled when she adopted a baby boy, and might finally have the love of her life. The finale ended with a cliffhanger of her on-air love interest, Sam, proposing. But the cliffhanger left viewers unsure of what her response was.
The show has lost other cast members in the past, including Chris Lowell, whose character Dell was tragically killed in a car accident two seasons ago, and Audra McDonald, whose character Naomi left the practice and L.A. in last year's finale.
So, now that all of the characters are dropping like flies, perhaps it is time to end Private Practice. Viewers will be disappointed to see it go, but it may be better to say goodbye to the show before the rest of the characters leave one-by-one. Viewers' hearts can only take so much...
