Aishwarya Rai appeared visibly slimmer at a London party marking the opening of the Bulgari Hotel and Residences last night. Has the new mother reacted to criticism of her weight by attempting to drastically slim down, or is it just a case of nature taking its course and a few pounds making a huge difference?
Either way Aishwarya looked stunning on the red carpet. Her makeup was just right—she's been somewhat heavy handed with it as of late, but last night it was spot on, giving her a sophisticated, glamorous look. She wore her hair in an open style and was again sporting a creation by her favorite designer, Sabyasachi. She wore a familiar style, an anarkali kurta, but the color scheme was beautifully dramatic.
The top of the kurta was a solid black, which covered her arms and bust and helped slim her at the top, while the body of the suit (white lace and netting) flared from the bust before ending in a thick black hem. Aishwarya paired the suit with an embroidered dupatta which finished the look nicely.
While at the party, Aish rubbed shoulders with both Dev Patel (of Skins and Slumdog Millionaire fame) and Isabella Rossellini, who she was honored to meet and invited to visit her in Mumbai.
The focus, as ever, was on Aishwarya's waistline, and in this regard she gave the tabloids no further fodder. She's either lost weight or found the perfect slimming trick in the black and white suit, but either way she looked phenomenal. This was probably the best she's looked (both style and weight-wise) in a year. Not only did she look healthy, she looked radiantly happy; her eyes sparkle in every photo from the event. Maybe a night out in London (and a day of shopping for her daughter, Aaradhya!) was just what she needed to relax. There was no pressure on her at the event—and it showed.
