Bristol Palin: New Show, Nutty Lawsuit and Twitter Hate

June 15, 2012 03:10 AM UTC
Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp premieres on Tuesday, June 19 on Lifetime and follows Palin, raising her 3-year-old son, Tripp, as a single mother living in Los Angeles. With all the public scrutiny, does the show have any chance of success?

Bristol Palin by Gage Skidmore 2Palin became a household name in 2008 when her mother, Sarah Palin, was picked as running mate for GOP presidential nominee John McCain, and it was announced that the single 17-year-old was pregnant. For some reason, hatred towards her mother reflected onto Palin, and she became the victim of intense public and media scrutiny.

It didn't help that her child's father, Levi Johnston, did everything under the sun for publicity, including posing nude and trashing the entire Palin family, all while neglecting to pay child support and rarely visiting son Tripp. Johnston is now expecting a second child with his current girlfriend.

Palin told Huffington Post, "...so much in my life is gonna be shown on this show, I think I would reconsider it and think about it more." Judging by the comments in the article, it's understandable. Both Palin and Lifetime are facing a lawsuit from a man in a bar (see below) who was filmed by a cellphone (and Palin's show crew) verbally attacking Palin's mother and being confronted by Bristol, asking him if he was gay. According to the man, Stephen Hanks, Palin "questioning his sexuality" defamed him and caused him damages. Apparently starting the entire ordeal by calling her mother a whore and calling Palin "white trash" isn't defamation. Whether or not you like the girl, no woman, no person, should ever be treated like this:
