Robert Pattinson is arguably one of the hottest actors in Hollywood at the moment--both in his physical looks and his professional career. And pair him with his equally hot girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, and they are quite the power couple with plenty of star quality. But could it be that Pattinson--despite his obvious talent, the adoring fans, the blockbuster movies and the extreme fame--was lacking confidence? Yes, apparently so. But it seems this down-to-earth hunk is a bit less insecure now.
So did his girlfriend play a role in that confidence boost?
Pattinson and Stewart are perhaps most well-known for their strong roles in The Twilight Saga, where Twi-hards fell in love with their portrayals of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan--and for their on-screen romance that also has translated to a successful off-screen relationship.
But despite their on- and off-camera connection, Robert Pattinson actually cited his new movie, Cosmopolis, not Kristen Stewart as the reason for his more self-assured status.
Perhaps as any actor in a super-popular film series may experience, it can be difficult to break out of that iconic role and transition to completely different types of scripts. It seems Pattinson was worried about just this situation--and forever being Team Edward. He's obviously dedicated to his acting craft and wants to grow and expand his horizons. And, for him, Cosmopolis was just the ticket; his super-hero that saved him from the Twilight zone--and that increased his confidence.
"I'm older and more confident," Pattinson recently revealed, as Hollywood Life reports. "I was always afraid that I would never get offered any roles like this one [in Cosmopolis]. And to be invited to Cannes on top of it all, you suddenly begin to really see yourself as an actor. I mean, wow--I can really do cool movies, as well!"
(Not that Twilight wasn't plenty "cool"! He surely didn't mean that--or maybe he did. He's reportedly said previously that he's certainly ready to move onwards and upwards from that saga.)
Indeed, an invitation to the Cannes Film Festival's red carpet must be quite the thrill, and it's one Robert Pattinson was able to share with Kristen Stewart, whose On the Road movie was also screened. Looks like neither of them have to be insecure about the future after Breaking Dawn--Part 2 finally wraps.
