Newly crowned American Idol Phillip Phillips says his recovery is coming along nicely and he's already been able to pick up his guitar and make a little music. The singer had kidney surgery a couple of weeks ago that doctors begged him to have while competing for the title. Phillips refused, however, unwilling to give up the road he had already traveled so far toward his dream.
According to a report from People.com, Phillip's fans will no doubt be thrilled to hear his good news.
"I'm getting better each day, so that's a good thing," he says.
His kidney surgery removed stones that were far too big to pass, and caused him excruciating pain throughout his entire time competing on American Idol.
"It was tough, you know, those first few days, but I'm getting to where I can pick the guitar back up and write a little bit," he says.
Phillip Phillips beat out runner-up Jessica Sanchez for the American Idol title. The Leesburg, Georgia native will return to the stage in Washington, D.C. on the 4th of July for the annual celebration held there.
Congratulations to Phillip Phillips for his stamina and his willingness to get back to the music his fans love so much in the aftermath of his kidney surgery.
