Ian Somerhalder Ready to Put a Ring on It—Nina Dobrev, Not So Much

For a long time, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev were, much like their Twilight Saga counterparts, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, an "are-they-or-aren't-they?" couple. In recent months however, the Vampire Diaries stars' increasingly high-profile PDA, affectionate tweets, and obvious togetherness has proved that not only are they a couple, they're a pretty
darned serious one. As a German fan site put it, "again and again, the two were spotted recently smooching, cuddling and holding hands." Awww. The real question, however, is: "Does Ian...really have serious intentions?" According to inside sources the answer is a resounding "Yes." In fact, rumor has it that Somerhalder is not only willing but actually ready to put a ring on it. La Dobrev, not so much.

In most romantic relationships, it's usually the man who is reluctant to "commit." Apparently, with the Vampire Diaries lovers, the roles have been reversed. Friends close to the couple say it's all because of the difference in their ages. At 23, Nina is more committed to her career than to the idea of starting a family. Although the 34-year-old Somerhalder might be in a different stage in his life and career, he understands, and he's reportedly willing to wait.

"Ian is 10 years older than her and willing to make it official," revealed an inside source. "But he said that he understands that [she] would like to wait (...) The moment when Nina gives her okay, Ian will put a ring on her finger."

According to the insider, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder should be married "at the earliest...in five years."

Yikes. With all due respect to the "insider," love, even under optimum conditions, is as changeable as the weather, and five years is a long time. Do you think Dobrev's and Somerhalder's relationship will survive?
