On Monday, The Bachelorette Emily Maynard continues on with her quest to find a husband while taking in Budapest. At this point in her journey, she's more into the guys than she is into the far-flung destination since it's down to the wire as far as time for more serious decisions so she can pick the right mate.
So, before the hometown dates while in this beautiful Czech Republic, Em decides to dig deep to learn about the guys who remain by her side in Eastern Europe.
Her first date is a one-on-one with Arie, which becomes really dramatic due to a duplicitous secret he's been keeping from her and which she has now discovered. Talk about drama. For the juicy details, check in here.
That dealt with, Emily is off for another one-on-one, this time with John who is also called Wolf. This is a guy who Maynard does not know very well, and so she wants to see if they have sparks.
Together, they scour the secret side of Prague, going to a great place called the Lennon Wall, an interactive public space devoted to the former Beatles' life philosophy. The two decide to draw a picture of a boat as their contribution to the other (more creative) graffiti already there, explaining this commemorates their trip to Bermuda which is a stretch since they are supposed to be talking love through this Prague contribution. Big fail.
After that, it's off to the Lock Fence, also an interactive public space where thousands of locks are linked to chain in order to symbolize everlasting love. Sadly, when Em and John/Wolf try to lock their lock onto the chain with the others it won't close. Bad omen? Eventually, by using the key to the lock, which is the key to the situation at hand, theirs eventually clicks into place.
As Emily and John take part in local tourist attractions, Chris and Jef sit around their luxury Prague hotel doing, well, nothing. Chris is especially off during this scene as he displays quite a bit of agitation verging on violent thoughts because he can't be with Emily.
And he can't because she's with John and they are in a dungeon. A real dungeon. This is where John gives up some intimate information to Maynard. In a gloomy story like the gloomy place where these two are talking, he tells a tale of woe about a love story gone wrong.
In fact, the year-long relationship he had was so wrong that his girlfriend at the time cheated on him by simply shutting off her phone for three days as he frantically looked for her in all the obvious places, including jail. Turns out she had been having sex with "a doctor dude" and so that was the end of that pairing.
Apparently, these two bonded over this sad story, and John remains confident that he will be getting a rose before the hometown dates, which he brags about after he returns home. This infuriates Chris, who said he is going to hurt someone if that happens and he doesn't get a bloom. Yikes.
Sean doesn't react the same way but he is determined to find some alone time with Emily so he goes out in the dark of night to hunt her down. And guess what? He finds here wandering aimlessly in Prague (yeah, sure). The two talk and kiss even though this is against Bachelorette rules. Oh well.
The following day, Sean and Chris and Doug go out on a group date with transportation being via horse and buggy. They head to a castle on a hill and it's there that Doug, who is a so-called "slow starter," talks to Emily with the body language of a guy who wants nothing physical to ever happen with this beautiful blonde.
The bottom line is that Doug is polite. Too polite. In fact, he's boring and after struggling with how to tell him, Emily commands him to leave Prague right then and there to return home to his son. Talk about harsh. He cries while being carted away.
That leaves two guys on the date, with Chris very upset when Sean gets the rose. He is boiling mad and getting meaner by the moment, freaking out and threatening to hurt someone. A Bachelorette bad guy in the making? Maybe.
The next date belongs to Jef. He and Emily go to a marionette store, where they purchase their own puppets. Later Jef goes back to the store and buys one for Ricki because he doesn't want to "leave her hanging." Ha ha. Then the two take over a beautiful library that is totally empty and start to act out their love story via the marionettes. This is cute but goes on a bit too long.
Then, Jef and Em literally sit on the floor of this amazing place to talk about life as they would like to live it if they were to do so together. They discuss home town dates and Jef says that although his Mormon parents won't be there because they are away on a mission in the South, he has plenty of family to welcome her to his fold.
Back at hotel central, Emily tells Chris Harrison she wants to forget about the traditional cocktail party and go straight to the eliminations. She knows what she wants to do and she doesn't want to waste any time. As Maynard starts to hand out the roses, Chris (call him angry Chris) interrupts her, takes her aside, says he's sorry he was such a dolt when he didn't get the group date rose, and she forgives him.
When push comes to shove and the final rose is handed out, it's not to John who was so sure The Bachelorette was going to be giving that bloom to him. Nope. With that said, at the end of the episode, Emily Maynard promises hometown dates to Jef, Sean, Arie and, yes, Chris. Stay tuned.
