Although Emily reportedly gets engaged to one of her final four on the season finale of The Bachelorette, she's actually "madly in love" with host Chris Harrison -- and the feeling is mutual, Star (via RadarOnline.com) reports.
Apparently, Chris has had eyes for Emily since she was a contestant on Brad Womack's second season of The Bachelor.
"Chris always openly told staffers that Emily was the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on," an "insider" tells the mag, adding that people who work on the show as well as former contestants "have long been whispering about how close the pair have become."
"From the beginning, I always said there was no way Emily was really going to end up with one of the guys because she really wanted to be with Chris, and it was obvious he wanted to be with her too," Vienna Girardi, who "won" Jake Pavelka's season of The Bachelor, spills to Star. "I vacationed with Chris and his family in St. Lucia and know him well. He was never with his wife. He's such a flirt. I guarantee Emily and Chris will end up together in the end. If she gets engaged to another man, the show will probably spin it as a love triangle."
Did Vienna really vacation with Chris' family in St. Lucia? Vienna and Chris don't seem as though they have the best relationship, and she doesn't seem like the sort of person he would want to expose his children to. Maybe, if she actually said that (and since it's Star, she probably didn't), she means they were all there at the same time during the filming of Jake's season. Another contestant from Jake's season, Rozlyn Papa, once alleged that Chris hit on a producer's wife while filming in New Zealand, so the stuff about the host being flirtatious and never with his wife could be true.
If there's any truth to this, would Bachelor/ette producers try to downplay it and claim nothing is going on between Emily and Chris, like they tried to edit villainess Courtney Robertson to be more sympathetic on Ben Flajnik's season? Or, since they love drama and ratings, and nothing is more dramatic than the Bachelorette and the host falling in love, would they pull a stunt like having Emily dump her final-rose recipient on the "After the Final Rose" special and ask Chris for a chance, a la Jason Mesnick? That would definitely be "the most dramatic rose ceremony ever"! Since Emily and her last man standing will never last anyway -- and since Chris just announced last month that he and his wife of 18 years are divorcing -- you never know.
What do you think? Is romance brewing between Emily Maynard and Chris Harrison? Can she do better? Sound off in the comments!
