Zayn Malik of One Direction oozes sexiness and confidence but apparently it wasn't always that way. Before he began his stint as a boy band singer and began touring with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, it appears that Zayn was quite "shy and nervous" to sing in front of anyone.
That all changed when R&B superstar Jay Sean came to his school and pulled him up on stage to sing.
"I went out into the crowd and asked if there were any aspiring singers and then this little boy put his hand up...I asked him if he'd ever sung before and he was like, 'No, I'm really shy and nervous,' but I said, 'We're gonna sing together'," Jay Sean said. "So that was it, we sang one of my songs and that was the first time he'd sung up on stage and that gave him the confidence to go on and audition for [UK TV show] The X-Factor. He tweeted me the other day actually and said, 'Hey man I don't know if you remember me but you pulled me up on stage and I just wanna thank you for that moment.' I thought that was really sweet that he remembered that."
It sounds like One Direction fans have Jay Sean to thank for Zayn Malik. If he hadn't taught him to be confident and do what he loves, would Zayn be where he's at today or would he just be your average college student watching One Direction and wishing he were them?
