Kate Middleton and Prince William may have made what could have been one of their most uncomfortable, if not ironic appearances to date—at least in the opinion of many who are looking in from the outside! On Saturday, June, 30, the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge attended the wedding of her Marlborough College friend, Alice St. John Webster, to Gerald Alvenel in the village of Bishops Lydeard, Somerset, England.
While it could have been the joint attendance of Kate's sister, Pippa Middleton, that made things a bit uneasy, given Pippa's last big hurrah was that unfortunate controversy and misunderstanding with those fake firearm photos, it wasn't. It perhaps could also have been more of those pregnancy rumors that have been swirling around the Duchess, but it wasn't that either. However, it was a few other guests at the affair that provided several servings of awkwardness.
Not one, not two, but four of Kate Middleton and Prince William's ex flames were among the 300 attendees at the wedding. As Us Weekly reports, William's former girlfriends, writer Olivia Hunt and aspiring actress Rose Farquhar, were both there. As for Kate, her previous boys Henry Ropner and Willem Marx also made an appearance.
But, apparently—and unsurprisingly—the royals have bigger and better and far more important things to occupy their attention now, as it seems they weren't in the least bit bothered by the guest list. A few exes at a wedding is nothing! If anything, the situation was perhaps most awkward for those exes who didn't end up on the arm of either Kate Middleton or Prince William.
That aside, Kate once again was dressed to impress and stood out among the crowd in a floral-print silk chiffon dress by Beulah paired with those ubiquitous nude L.K. Bennett heels and a Jane Corbett fascinator, as Us Weekly confirms.
Because this particular wedding is all about the irony, it's worth noting that the weather was rainy, which was unfortunate for the bride and groom. But, even more than that, Beulah is not only an ethical fashion line which supports disadvantaged women (kudos to Kate for supporting!), but it was also started by another of William's close friends and rumored flings, Natasha Rufus Isaacs.
So, really there could have been five exes who made some sort of appearance at this little affair!
