The Jersey Shore cast essentially gets paid for partying and hanging out with friends. One might say that they have got it made -- especially after their million dollar contracts were leaked to the press! However, it's not all fun and games for the cast and MTV is making sure that if things get too crazy, they are not held responsible.
In fact, the cast of eight is required to sign a VD clause for all of those late nights in the smush room. That means that if Mike gets wasted at a local Seaside Heights bar and takes some dirty girl home, MTV isn't going to be paying his medical bill!
According to the NY Daily News, the contract states, "I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact." Have sex at your own risk, Jersey Shore cast!
MTV added this bit to the Jersey Shore casts' contracts in order to protect themselves from being sued if someone catches a sexually transmitted disease. Oddly enough, this isn't out of the ordinary in reality TV!
