Katie Holmes has just kicked off what will most likely be one of the biggest, ugliest Hollywood divorces in history. She not only shocked the world, but her husband, Tom Cruise, when she filed for divorce last week. Not so surprising is the fact she is asking for sole custody of her daughter, Suri Cruise. Friends and insiders have revealed Katie is not comfortable with the idea of her daughter being raised in Scientology.
The exclusive and extremely private group keeps pretty close tabs on any media attention that comes out. They are known to sue anybody who says anything bad about their little cult, um, religion. They boast some of the biggest players in Hollywood as members and are not afraid to flaunt their power when it comes to keeping people quiet about the inner workings.
If Katie hopes to gain sole custody of her daughter, she will be forced to explain why she is not comfortable with Scientology. Can she do it? Undoubtedly, there are some privacy clauses in play somewhere, but can she divulge just enough information to sway a judge? One Scientology expert explains, "Whatever happens, Scientology will make sure she does not go out and talk about what really went on." Katie must be terrified of what could happen to her if she does speak out against the religion.
The expert adds, "She will be put under a lot of pressure that could make her much more vulnerable and weaker, by the time she has to fight in court." Can Katie Holmes survive the pressure and win her fight against one of the biggest names in Hollywood and his powerful church?
It will be extremely difficult and Katie will probably be facing some pretty big obstacles put in place by Scientology, but she can persevere with the support of her family, friends and even the public.
