They may have been rivals in their pageant days, but Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai are now coming together on an entirely different subject: weight.
Sushmita, always spiritedly outspoken on social issues, is coming to Aishwarya's defense against critics in the media who have repeatedly attacked her over her weight. Sushmita, a mother herself (she has two adopted daughters), relates to Aishwarya's trouble, as she says she has recently been under some scrutiny over her weight as well.
Her advice to Aishwarya? Ignore the criticism!
"I congratulate Aishwarya on the birth of her daughter Aaradhya. I think she is doing the right thing by taking time out to look after her daughter. She should stop reading what the media writes about her or her weight, and enjoy her life. I do the same. Even my weight was a topic of discussion in the papers a few weeks ago, but I just stopped reading them."
Sushmita is entirely right. Aishwarya has given a few interviews over the last couple months in which she plays off the criticism, but it's clear that she's aware of what has been written about her and that it bothers her. The best thing to do in this case is to just ignore what's being said and live life. The criticism means nothing--Aishwarya is a beautiful, wealthy, successful, and stable woman. So she's gained a few pounds here and there due to her recent pregnancy. What does that matter?
Sushmita is correct--it shouldn't matter at all.
