Recent news that Dolphy Quizon is dead at age 83 has hit his friends, fans, and family. Quizon, known as the "King of Comedy," reportedly died due to multiple organ failure.
The well-known Filipino actor and comedian Quizon had been at the Makati Medical Center since June 9th of this year. According to Inquirer.net, a statement from the medical center said:
"We would like to inform the public that Mr. Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, passed away today, at 2034H (8:34 p.m.) due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure."
A report from GMA Network notes that Dolphy had a "Do Not Resuscitate" order in place, meaning the doctors had to shut off his respirator once he was pronounced dead. Eric Quizon, Dolphy's son, had said that his father was "severely weakened by repeated bouts of pneumonia."
Dolphy Quizon's remains were brought to Heritage Park in Taguig City after midnight for exclusive viewing by friends and family on Wednesday. A public viewing has been scheduled for 4 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Quizon was never married, but spent 20 years in a relationship with Zsa Zsa Padilla, a Filipina singer, actress, and model. To his credit, the "King of Comedy," has numerous roles in both television and film, dating back as far as 1946 when he was just 2 years old and played himself in "Dugo at Bayan (I Remember Bataan)." He will certainly be remembered for the smiles, laughter, and happiness he brought into the lives of others.
