But that dancing shouldn't be done by Salman or Katrina. What could have been a sexy, exciting number was made dull and cringe-worthy by Salman's stiff dancing and Katrina's dead expressions. Literally any other due in the industry could have pulled "Mashallah" off with better form than Sallu and Kat.
The song opens with Kat, veiled in black, being followed down a dusty Middle Eastern village street by Salman, who pulls her veil off and then proceeds to have what can only be described as a dance-off with the actress. They don't dance together at all--Salman executes some odd Kriss Kross-style footwork and wiggles his fingers a bit, and Kat bares her midriff and shakes her hips, a la Chikni Chameli and Sheila Ki Jawani.
Hopefully "Mashallah" isn't indicative of the rest of the film, or Ek Tha Tiger is doomed. Millions will go see it regardless of the quality, because Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are huge box office draws, but it'd be nice to see something fresh from them. Bad dancing, loads of botox (ahem, Katrina), and zero chemistry gets old after a while.
