Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson may not have the daring cougar-dotted romantic trysts of fellow One Direction band mate Harry Styles, or Niall Horan's celebrity "friendship" with Demi Lovato, or the suave factor of Zayn Malik (well, okay, maybe they have that). But the two "L's" of the chart-topping, British boy group have just solidified their status at the top of the best boyfriend charts. What did the floppy-haired heart-throbs do, pray tell? Well, they bought their main girls some pretty impressive pieces of swag: cars!
No, Payne and Tomlinson didn't go the silver shrink-wrapped Fisker Karma or the Batmobile route favored by fellow pop sensation Justin Bieber. But they did shell out major cash for two pretty cool sets of wheels.
First up, Tomlinson made sure his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, had the most memorable 20th birthday ever. As Sugarscape reminds, she blew out the candles with an enormous fairy-tale castle cake and a personalized video from Rihanna. But that's not all! Tomlinson finished off the fab party with a Mini One D car. (One has to appreciate the obvious 1D irony of the vehicle's name—and the fact that the pint-sized auto has its own cute factor working for it, too.)
Not to be outdone, Payne went a slightly sportier route with a sleek Audi TT for his girlfriend, Danielle Peazer, as Sugarscape confirms. And he earns bonus points for this one because it wasn't even her b-day. It appears as if this was simply a "just-because" gift, a show of his love. That said, the car thing seems to be a trend among the young celebrity set right now. Between Bieber's affinity for bold rides to Kim Kardashian's big Lamborghini birthday present for her new guy, Kanye West, the wheels have it.
Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and the rest of One Direction have quickly become one of the hottest topics on the music scene since shooting to visibility on The X Factor. And with personal, romantic moves the likes of what the guys have pulled lately, they'll stay firmly top of mind among squealing Directioners.
There's no doubt Tomlinson and Payne are relishing in the fact that they can splash out what may now be mere pocket change to spoil their lady loves. Hopefully they don't break up before the first oil change!
