Unfortunately, the front, center section of the audience (reserved for Fantasy Springs tribal members) did not seem to connect with his music. Adam tried to engage them as much as his fans, which were out of their seats and dancing the entire time. He even commented to the people in front: "You guys here in the front. What the f**k are those looks on your faces? If you're gonna take the front seats away from my fans, you better stand the f**k up!"
Adam has said in interviews that the energy going back and forth between him and his audience is important. In fact, he even has an infinity sign tattoo that represents this give and take relationship. So one can imagine how difficult it was for him to sing when he did not feel a connection with the people right in front of him. Later in the show, frustrated again, Adam asked if fans could join those sitting down in the center. He said, "Can people come and join you that are sitting down? I just want to see my fans... can you maybe make friends with them? Maybe they will get you to stand up again." Then he said to the fans, "yeah, come down." After hearing an invitation from Adam, there was a huge rush of people trying to get into the front area. However, security blocked everyone from getting through, causing chaos and some disappointment as people were being pushed back to their seats.
Possibly because of this, Adam continued to show love to his fans, and for the first time, he went right into the crowd! During the song Naked Love, he came out into the audience, and even asked a couple of people to sing along with him. Watch Adam in the crowd in the video below:
Overall, Adam Lambert put on a good show. He did everything in his power to give his fans a great experience and based on comments from people after the show, he succeeded! He will hit the road again next week, starting with a concert at Six Flags San Antonio, Texas, followed by shows in Oklahoma, and Iowa.

"come on everyone! let's trespass together!"
These people weren't rude to just Adam. They showed that nobody ever taught them manners AT ALL, or they would know better. When someone is putting in that effort, enjoy it or give someone else room to do so. I agree that Adam could have used better language (I remember a show during GNT where he said he saw a lot of people not singing along and half-jokingly threatened that if he saw anyone not singing, he was going to have to kiss them), but I don't think his frustration was unwarranted.
