Justin Bieber and girlfriend Selena Gomez's relationship has been a bit tumultuous of late, with the hot young Hollywood couple on a rocky carnival ride of sorts with some serious ups and downs. Despite the recent split rumors, the "Boyfriend" singer and his starlet girl appear to be as strong as ever, with the pair attending last Sunday's Teen Choice Awards and ending the night on an even more romantic note, celebrating Gomez's 20th birthday together. And speaking of rides, Bieber took another one, posing for the Summer 2012 edition of UK magazine Rolla Coaster and opening up about his professional career that has mainly been characterized by thrills rather than spills.
His main girl may have officially transitioned out of her teens on her July 22nd b-day, but the 18-year-old Justin Bieber is also channeling more mature ways—in his music and in his appearance. And there's no doubt Selena Gomez, who has lately done her own fair share of all-grown-up sexy photo shoots, while taking on provocative roles like the one in Spring Breakers, must be liking her new man just fine.
Bieber's latest album, Believe, is proof of his evolved sound that steps away from teeny-bopper cuteness and into a more developed coolness. He told the glossy, "I am growing up. I am now 18 and my fans are growing up with me. I'm getting older and I want to reflect that in my album—it is just more mature and reflecting the age that I am."
Ooohh... like 18 is so old! Not! But, Bieber's "ripe old age" is still a turning point for the pop sensation who has been wowing crowds and maintaining his heart-throb status among a crush of fans since his early teens. It's, well, very mature of him to acknowledge that he has to change to stay current. After all, he has those One Direction guys at his heels!
While his music has hit a new high note with the so-far chart-topping hits from Believe, so has the Biebs' style. His once-floppy signature hair was one of the first things to get chopped. And now the "Baby" singer is turning heads with even more of an ultra-suave look that some have likened to a James Dean-ish vibe.
As can be seen via the pics posted on Perez Hilton, Bieber showed off his slick factor for Rolla Coaster in a black-and-white editorial spread that had him rocking some seriously hot and introspective expressions, perfectly coiffed hair (with plenty of gel!), and hip-hop fashion. He even gave a shout-out to mom with a shirt that read, "Mother." And, while there's no Selena Gomez reference in this particular shoot, she did recently get her own little plug with the name of Bieber's latest fragrance, "Girlfriend."
