No sooner had Aishwarya Rai given birth to her daughter Aaradhya than rumors about her comeback began. She was said to have signed everything from a comedy with her husband to a Hollywood project with Billy Zane. Most of these rumors were easily dismissed in light of Aishwarya's own claim to be taking a year off to raise her daughter.
But one rumor persisted, which was that she was due to film a small guest role in the Rajinikanth film Kochadaiyaan. This week the film's director Soundarya Rajinikanth (Rajinikanth's eldest daughter) finally cleared up those rumors once and for all.
So is Aishwarya making an appearance in the film? Sadly for her fans the answer is an emphatic "no." The film, slated for December release, will instead feature Deepika Padukone (a fortuitous decision given Deepika's current popularity after the success of her film Cocktail).
Aishwarya's involvement in the film was probably more wishful thinking on the part of her fans than anything else. It's hard to see Aish being willing to take even a few days away from her daughter, so spending a week or more on a film set in Tamil Nadu probably wasn't ever in the cards.
No worries though—the Kochadaiyaan rumor may have come to nothing but there'll no doubt be a new one to take its place tomorrow!
