The proud bigwigs of Beverly Hills joined Playboy founder Hugh Hefner today at a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the new global headquarters for Playboy Enterprises Inc. On hand were Mayor Willie Brien, three former mayors, and the entire city council! Council member Lili Bosse said, "Playboy is a world-renowned company, and the fact that they chose Beverly Hills to open up their headquarters is a statement to the quality of Beverly Hills."
Hef was also joined by girlfriend Crystal Harris, son Cooper, Playboy Executive Vice President Dick Rosenzweig, CEO Scott Flanders, and of course, a couple of gorgeous Playboy Bunnies. During his remarks, Flanders said, "If Hef could rewrite his life, he might have started it right here in Beverly Hills." Yikes! Oh, no he didn't... and no, he wouldn't! Chicago born and bred Hefner has a very special place in his heart for the Windy City. When he closed up shop in town, Chicago socialite and Miss December 1979 Candace (Collins) Jordan told Gather News, "I wish him well but will be very sorry to see Playboy disappear from Chicago completely." At the time, Hefner wrote a long and tearful goodbye to his town in the Chicago Tribune.
Rosenzweig, who has been with Playboy since 1958, said, "It's a great delight to be back in Beverly Hills, the greatest little city in the world. It just seemed logical that Beverly Hills is where we belong." As much as Hef loves Beverly Hills, particularly his Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, he won't be coming into the office from 9-5. He is notorious for working from home and has said many times, why should he go anywhere? He lives at the Playboy Mansion! Good point, Mr. Hefner.
Son Cooper, who seems to be learning the ropes and taking on more tasks for the company, might be an office dweller. The spitting image of his father, he often tweets about the company, attends most functions with his famous father and has recently recreated several iconic photos from his fathers past. Today he tweeted, "@CooperHefner Dad and I attended the ribbon cutting this afternoon of the new @Playboy headquarters in Beverly Hills. An exciting new chapter," along with some photos. It will be exciting to see where young Cooper can take the company, and having the HQ in Beverly Hills can't hurt!
