Farrah Abraham's book, My Teenage Dream Ended, hits shelves tomorrow, but a few juicy secrets about the book have been released. The Teen Mom already revealed that she used to party (a lot) and even did cocaine. Certainly, she won't be able to shock fans anymore than that, though, right? Think again.
One of the things that will be revealed in the new book is the fact that, when Farrah was pregnant, she didn't immediately know if she was going to keep the baby. At 16 years old, Farrah was likely scared and didn't know what route to take. At one point, the Teen Mom actually considered all of her options, including a medical abortion. Apparently, though, Farrah didn't even get the final say in her pregnancy! Her mother, Debra, decided for her daughter that she would go on with the pregnancy.
While this sounds incredibly shocking, it isn't uncommon for pregnant teens to think about all of their options. Many of the girls that have been featured on 16 & Pregnant have said that the thought of abortion crossed their minds, but it was a decision that they knew they couldn't go through with. In fact, on the most recent season of the show, MTV actually featured two sisters who were pregnant at the same time. Briana decided to go through with her pregnancy and is rumored to be cast on Teen Mom 3. However, her sister had an abortion and was open with that on the show.
Abortion is a touchy subject, but one that needs to be addressed, especially to young girls. Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life isn't the issue, rather allowing teens to have all the facts and be educated on all options is. There are countless emotions that come along with abortion and girls rarely see that side of it. However, seeing a girl on the show speak out about her choice certainly helped give viewers a more inside look at how devastating it can be on a girl. Farrah Abraham revealing that she, if even for a brief moment, thought about it is also eye-opening to young fans.
