Miley Cyrus has always sort of marched to the beat of her own drum--and she doesn't appear to pay any mind to whatever others may be thinking. From her skin-baring, sometimes hippie-inspired ensembles to her provocative Twitter statements, her tattoos and her recent engagement to longtime, on- and off-again boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, the 19-year-old is carving out her own path.
She's also engaging in some chop-chop action, specifically when it comes to her locks, slashing her strands almost completely off. The singer-actress has not only become quite the sartorial envelope-pusher but also a hair chameleon. Hemsworth apparently doesn't have a problem with her outfits, but what must he think about her daring experimentation with her 'do? Can he possibly like this edgy and not-so-girl-next-door statement?
Cyrus has always embraced the extremes, it seems, and her hair is no different--except lately she has become even more bold. While her hues have ranged from brunette to red and blonde, her most recent shade is a look-at-me peroxide platinum. In the past, she's also paraded around embarrassingly long, wavy extensions, standard shoulder-length and flirty bobs. But, now? An androgynous, closely sheared cut that is completely different from anything the entertainer has done before.
Miley Cyrus's new look is undeniably attention-grabbing, but hopefully that's not the main reason she opted for such a severe change. However, it is possible she's feeling a bit out of the loop, given her Australian actor-hunk's filming schedule with Paranoia and his successful turn in The Hunger Games. That aside, her rather masculine and avant-garde hairstyle is really a love-it or hate-it thing and will undoubtedly take some getting used to among her fans and followers. However, Liam Hemsworth has apparently already accepted the hair-raising situation and is still hot-to-trot about his fiancée and her fierce crop.
According to Hollywood Life, a source has said, "I'm sure her hair is going to have people talking crap about her but she doesn't care. It's her hair, her style and she can do whatever she wants! She loves the new look. Liam totally loves it and think 'it's hot.' She's just expressing her look, being a bit edgy and looking hot in the process. I love it."
Cyrus is definitely not the standard bride-to-be, who would be scared stiff to pull a scissor-hands moment and go to such drastic lengths (or the lack thereof!) when it comes to her 'do.
