Ron Palillo who played "Horshack" on Welcome Back Kotter died at the age of 63 on Tuesday. The '70s sitcom star wasn't ill and died suddenly and unexpectedly.
Apparently, Palillo had been teaching acting at The Charter School for the Arts in Palm Beach, Florida.
Fans across the globe were shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of one of sitcom's most well-known stars.
Many believe that the character Palillo portrayed called "Horshack" made way for the LGBT community to make waves on TV.
"I'm not the first one to make this observation, but in his way, Arnold Horshack was an important point in the timeline of how LGBT people are depicted on TV," noted a columnist at the San Francisco Gate.
Sadly, Ron Palillo won't get to make a big comeback or see his name in lights like many other sitcom actors from the '70s (i.e., John Travolta who also starred on Welcome Back Kotter and was considered its breakout star).
Do you remember Palillo? What was your favorite moment from his "Horshack" years on TV?
