The 50 Shades of Grey movie is getting way too many options for Christian Grey.
So far ideas from Fifty fans have included Michael Fassbender, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Jessie Pavelka, and co
untless other actors that the ladies lust after. If author E.L. James is turning to fans for help in picking the perfect Christian, then she definitely has her work cut out for her.
And now PolicyMic has picked yet another guy to add to the growing list—27 Dresses actor James Marsden.
In addition to starring in that rom-com with Katherine Heigl, James played Cyclops in the X-Men movies, Prince Charming in Enchanted, and the other guy in The Notebook. So he hasn't exactly been successful with his leading ladies; he lost his original love interests in the latter two movies, and of course having laser eyes can complicate things.
Unfortunately, James Marsden, who looks like the long-lost brother of James Franco (another Christian option?), might be too old for the 50 Shades of Grey movie. He's 38 while Christian Grey is just 28.
He also seems like more of a comedic actor. He starred alongside The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco in the Easter comedy Hop; he recently played Liz Lemon's love interest on 30 Rock; and he's been cast as a "douchebag groom" in the upcoming comedy Bachelorette.
However, he did star in the dark Straw Dogs remake (which also featured Fifty favorite Alexander Skarsgard), and some of his upcoming movies indicate that he's not all about comedy. Loft is a thriller about a group of friends who find a body in the loft that they're renting for their extramarital affairs; Red Machine is about two brothers getting stalked by a grizzly bear; 2 Guns is a crime drama; and he was cast as John F. Kennedy in The Butler. So obviously James isn't afraid of trying new things.
He also has experience starring alongside a super-awkward and clumsy love interest—Tina Fey's 30 Rock character is like a middle-aged, nerdier version of Anastasia Steele.
So do you think that James could pull of playing Christian, or is he totally wrong for the role?
