Even though Real Housewives of Atlanta is on hiatus, Kim Zolciak is getting some publicity she probably doesn't want. Kim's mother Karen Zolciak has filed a petition asking for visitation rights so she can see her grandchildren.
Karen is claiming that she was able to visit her granddaughters, Ariana and Brielle, on a regular basis until Kim married football player Kroy Biermann. Kim's mom claims that the close relationship she had with the girls is beneficial considering they spend so much time in front of the camera and need a normal life.
Karen may have a point. How are the kids going to have a normal life if Kim continues to live her life in front of the camera? Since Karen wasn't portrayed in a positive light on this season of "Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding", hopefully the court will fully investigate her claims. Even if Karen's claims are unfounded, she is correct that the kids shouldn't be denied of a loving extended family and a stable home life.

One case I read about the Grandparents had a good relationship with their daughter in law after their son died.... for many years. When she remarried... they were no longer welcome in her life or the Grand children's life. Their access was gone so they took it to court... and they were unable to prove their daughter in law to be unfit. The court will not get involved because the parent has the right to make decisions regarding their children which oversees anyone else's.
So as unfair as it is, and difficult on the grandchildren to be denied access or a relationship with their Grandparents... and what a heart ache it isfor those involved.... there are some very good reasons the court adheres to the way it is.
Because basically you are challenging the parents ability to make this decision.... and it opens another can of worms. You are trying to get something that won't be awarded... because the parent has to "lose custody" for the court to give you access.
Taking the parent to court... will probably strengthen the parents resolve in their original decision to deny you access... and you are not going to win any points with them. When you try to have a child taken away from the custodial parent... you are throwing out any slim chance you may have had... to get them to look kindly on you and change their mind.
