Adrienne Maloof is the latest celebrity to be accused of buying followers on Twitter. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is in the midst of a divorce from her husband of nine years, Dr. Paul Nassif, but that doesn't mean she's steering clear of other drama.
According to Rumorfix's research, Adrienne gained 5,839 Twitter followers in just three days. While it is normal for a celebrity to gain a couple hundred followers daily, anything over five thousand is extreme.
Adrienne and her family were extremely well known before Adrienne's appearance on the hit Bravo show so it seems odd that she would need to buy followers, but when you have that much money, why not?
Bravo guest star Slade Smiley informed listeners of his radio show that celebrities' popularity is often measured by their number of Twitter followers so it makes sense that someone would want to appear more popular since that means more opportunities and sponsorships.
A rep for Adrienne Maloof insists that she is not purchasing Twitter followers. Alexis Bellino of Real Housewives of Orange County and Joanna Krupa of Real Housewives of Miami have also shown irregular follower stats.
