Tyler Baltierra and his dad Butch had a rough season this year on Teen Mom. Butch's addictions have taken over his life and Tyler just wasn't his priority. It was sad to see him put drugs before his son and even tell him that he loved drugs more than he love him.
During the finale, fans got to hear a letter than Tyler had written his dad which expressed his pain and need to distance himself. However, on last night's Teen Mom reunion show, Tyler revealed that he never actually gave him the letter -- nor did he shut him out of his life.
As hard as it is to have his father in and out of his life, Tyler just can't let go of the hope that he can one day kick his drug habit and be the father he should be.
When Dr. Drew asked him why he never sent the emotional letter, Tyler explained, "I just don't have the heart. I don't know, it's weird. I just can't give up on the guy."
It may be painful, but Tyler keeping hope is a good thing. He doesn't want to abandon his father and although his father may not deserve to have such an amazing son in his life, it's good that he knows he can count on him.
