Amber Portwood is currently in prison and, although there have been reports that she is not doing well behind bars, her mother is speaking out and telling a different story. Amber's mother, Tonya, visited the former Teen Mom for the first time since she has been locked up and was pleasantly surprised with how well she is doing.
Rather than sulking, Amber is reportedly in the choir and losing weight (25 pounds so far!). However, perhaps the most interesting thing that the Teen Mom is working on while in prison is a book!
Tonya told the Daily Mail, "She's lost a lot of weight by staying active and even though the guards and inmates try to pick fights Amber is staying out of trouble and spending time each day writing a book about her life."
Fans watched Amber's downward spiral on the show. Things were bad for her, but got worse when she assaulted Gary Shirley on camera. Things only got worse from there with Amber getting hooked on prescription drugs. While she tried to attend court ordered drug rehab, in the end, the stipulations were too much and she chose going to prison over rehabilitation.
Of course, fans only know half the story. MTV edits things to make them seem more dramatic and it is likely that there is a lot to Amber's story that has been unseen over the years. If Amber were to tell her story through a book, it would help give fans better insight to her life and troubles. Her true fans have supported her through everything and would certainly support her writing endeavors.
She wouldn't be the first Teen Mom to write a book either! Farrah Abraham recently released her memoir, My Teenage Dream Ended, and Maci Bookout is reportedly working on a memoir as well. Even 16 & Pregnant star Ashley Salazar found success with her book Bittersweet Blessing.
Would you read a book by Amber Portwood?
