Ovarian cancer couldn't bring Kathy Bates down. Neither will breast cancer if she's got anything to say about it. Still, the Harry's Law star is facing another momentous fight.
Rumor has it that a lump got discovered in Kathy's breast a few weeks ago. Now, the star has undergone a double mastectomy to deal with it.
"Luckily, I don't have to undergo radiation or chemo," says Bates who has faced all those decisions once before. She jokes that her family calls her Kat for good reason. "I always land on my feet," she said. "...Thankfully, this is no exception."
Recovery will take time given the fact Bates isn't as young as she once was. She's technically a senior citizen in some books at the age of 64. Still, the star plans on attention the Emmys, which take place at the end of September. Hopefully she can because she's up for a couple of awards.
"My doctors have assured me I'm going to be around for a long time," Bates proclaimed. No doubt they're right too. Ovarian cancer couldn't keep her down and neither will breast cancer.
"I'm looking forward to getting back to work and doing what I love to do," she says. Her fans look forward to it. They can't imagine Hollywood without Kathy Bates in it. She's a magnificent actress; one of the best of her generation. Here's hoping her star shines for many more years.
