Is there a problem between Matt Lauer and Al Roker on the Today show? Matt says there isn't, but since he pretty much drove Ann Curry out, who knows what he's capable of stirring up?
According to a report from TMZ, word broke recently that Matt believed Al was trying to 'sabotage' the show, which has fallen drastically in the ratings since Ann Curry was fired. Good Morning America is now the #1 morning news program, having skyrocketed since Curry's departure.
In the days since Ann left, Al has done a few things that some consider bizarre. His most famous faux pas was when he commented about NBC throwing 'people' under the bus. Everyone believes he was referring to how Ann Curry was forced out--even though the network denies that was the case.
So does Matt really believe Al is trying (somewhat successfully, it seems) to sabotage Today?
He claims it's nothing but a rumor.
"We feel the heat every day," Lauer says ... "but we have for the last 20 years that I've been there. We're just trying to do the best show we can do every single day ... and I think we're doing a good job right now ... and I think the cycle will reverse."
What do you think? Is Matt Lauer on the receiving end of Al Roker's peculiar blunders? Is it part of practically everyone on Today hating Matt and wishing he'd been fired instead of Ann Curry?
