Demi Lovato was insulted during the Wednesday night X Factor premiere by a contestant. Contestant Shawn Armenta says he had been training for about a year and a half and told cameras, "This is my passion, I'm a singer and a dancer." An original song titled "Candy Girl" couldn't save his performance in the eyes of the judges. Of course, even if he could sing, his bad attitude probably would have gotten him booted sooner or later. Someone who can't take criticism does not belong in the public eye, and fame would have ripped him to shreds!
First to comment, Simon Cowell said, "You're like a mouse trying to be an elephant, It's just wrong." Then, trying to be nicer than the typically abrasive Brit, Demi told him, "A lot of people work really, really hard for their dreams, but it's not meant for everybody." She seems to be the sweetheart on the judging panel, but obviously can say no when they just don't cut it!
According to Us, this elicited a quick response of, "That's why you use Auto-tune and I don't," by Shawn Armenta. Ooh, burn! Oh wait, who's a famous music artist? Yeah, exactly. This guy who can't even sing certainly isn't going to do much to hurt her self-esteem!
Britney Spears quickly stepped in to defend co-judge Demi Lovato saying, "I want to know who let you on stage. I feel uncomfortable with you just staring at me." So he may be a sore loser who can't take no for an answer, but at least he's off the show!
