There are a lot of disappointed Glamberts because the American Idol judges have finally been revealed and Adam Lambert is not on the panel. Fox has announced that the new judges will include Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban. In addition, despite rumors that he would move to a mentor position, Randy Jackson will be returning as a judge. For several months, rumors pointed towards Adam as a major contender for a spot at the judges table, and he even said in many recent interviews that it was a possibility.
However, just because Adam is not a judge does not mean that
he will not show up on the show this season. There is always the possibility that he could be asked to be a mentor. It would not be the first time, because Adam served as a mentor during Elvis week on American Idol during season 9. He did a great job and even MTV News said that he "provided some of the most candid and spot-on advice of any mentor in the show's history."
In addition, Adam has a new single coming out very soon. Many speculated that he was stalling on announcing the release date to coincide with the American Idol judge announcement. But even though he is not a judge, American Idol is a great platform to perform the single for the first time on TV once it's released. He already sang Trespassing on the VH1 NewNowNext awards earlier this year, but that was before it became an official single. Adam has performed his past singles on American Idol, including Whataya Want From Me and Never Close Our Eyes. The show provides huge exposure for any artist and the timing of the show could be perfect to coincide with the Trespassing single release.
As one fan tweeted, that Adam was being considered for an American Idol judge position and stayed in the running until the end is an honor and accomplishment in itself. Plus, now he will have more time to prepare a tour for Trespassing!
Are you disappointed that Adam is not a judge on American Idol this season?

Nevertheless, while I'm sure he's - as well as numerous fans - are disappointed in the outcome, he needs to creatively soldier on. The old constructs are rapidly changing, and he simply needs to keep moving forward.
And that is actually one of his greatest assets.
