Britney Spears can't catch a break these days. Many people are criticizing her judging efforts on X Factor. Now Glee is taking pot shots at her too. Needless to say, those who love Brit are none too happy with this turn of events.
There's no denying that Spears went through some troubled times. Some were even more bizarre that those of Amanda Bynes. However, the pop star has worked hard to overcome her past and made a very successful comeback. So why is Glee skewering her now?
No one seems to have the answer to that. However, it's obvious the show wanted to poke fun at her in the worst way possible. They visited all the things Brit is trying to put behind her, from an umbrella attack on the paparazzi to her horrendous performance at the 2007 MTV VMA awards. Nothing remained off-limits, not even the infamous head-shaving incident.
What made everything worse was that Britney's camp was expecting a tribute to the pop princess. No warning was given that Glee intended to shed Britney in the worst possible light.
Maybe the show actually thought a character's statement of "no matter what happened to her (Britney), she just came back stronger," was enough of an apology. It clearly wasn't as far as Britney's camp and her many fans are concerned.
Britney Spears is no saint and everybody knows it. However, to attempt to derail all the progress the singer's made in recent years, is cruel and uncalled for. Even some who aren't Britney fans agree with that. The Glee episode hit way below the belt.
What do you think? Are Britney's past mistakes fair game forever or should her attempts to do better be recognized instead? Sound off below.
