Matt Bomer recently became a pawn in American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis' publicity game, and now the writer is trying to use Paris Hilton to get a little a press.
Paris recently said this about gay men while having a conversation about Grindr with a friend:
"Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS...I would be so scared if I was a gay guy. You'll like, die of AIDS."
Paris later profusely apologized for the comment, but perhaps she didn't need to—Ellis, who seems to think that he's an expert when it comes to all things gay, decided to white-knight Hilton. According to Jezebel, here's what the author tweeted:
"I kind of agree with Paris Hilton. As someone who has used Grindr? Paris Hilton isn't that far off."
There might be some gay guys with AIDS who do use Grindr, but that doesn't make it okay for anyone to claim that every gay guy in the world is "disgusting" and going to "die of AIDS." It's a seriously awful stereotype that responsible gay men don't deserve to have to deal with.
Bret Easton Ellis previously offended the gay community and their supporters by claiming that Matt Bomer can't play Christian Grey in the 50 Shades of Grey movie simply because the actor is gay. Never mind that Matt's done a perfectly decent job playing a straight man on the show White Collar.
In between his offensive tweets, Ellis treats his followers to updates on the movie The Canyons, which he wrote the screenplay for. But it's not these tweets that attract attention—instead he makes headlines for claiming to have inside information about the 50 Shades of Grey movie. Once he even claimed that The Canyons star James Deen is being considered for the role of Christian Grey. So it seems like he's probably using his anti-gay comments and 50 Shades updates just to drum up publicity for his own movie.
Before you know it, Ellis will be claiming that Paris Hilton is up for the role of Anastasia Steele in the 50 Shades movie.
