One Day At a Time actress Bonnie Franklin has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Known for her role as mom Ann Romano, Bonnie played opposite Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli on the hit series that ran from 1975 to 1984.
According to a report from Yahoo News, Franklin received her diagnosis recently and is presently undergoing treatment. Her family says the 68-year-old is continuing her normal routine.
Franklin lives in L.A. and most recently starred in guest roles on The Young and the Restless and Hot in Cleveland, where she enjoyed a reunion with Valerie Bertinelli.
The actor's family says they all "remain extremely positive," and they're asking that everyone respect their privacy.
Pancreatic cancer took the life of actor Patrick Swayze in 2009 and Michael Landon in 1991. There is no cure for this particular kind of cancer.
Mackenzie Phillips tweeted her well wishes to her former TV mom, sending "out love and sweet prayers" to the "incomparable Bonnie Franklin."
Prayers are no doubt going out to the petite redhead from fans and friends all around the world. May they fill her with peace and with healing during this difficult battle she faces.
