Got a problem with moms breastfeeding in public? Don't take it up with Pink. The singer and mom is a full advocate of a woman's right to nurse in public and she's willing to fight for it, literally.
In a recent interview the singer described an incident in which she was breastfeeding her 15-month-old daughter Willow in a restaurant when an unnamed man walked by eyeing her with clear disgust. "I was like, 'You didn't get enough hugs when you were little,'" the singer said. Her husband, Carey Hart, playfully accused her of picking a fight in a restaurant to which she replied, "I will fight. Hold my baby."
While the idea taking to fisticuffs was a laugh for Pink and her husband, the singer is completely serious about nursing in public and the laws protecting breastfeeding moms. When asked whether she was "one of those militant breast-feeder women" she admitted she absolutely was and that she would nurse her child in public on purpose just to prove her point. Good for her.
With breastfeeding becoming a huge focus of health and public debates it's great to see more celebrities supporting the natural act of feeding a child. Even tanning-bed, party girl turned mom, Snooki, got into the fray recently. Love them or hate them, celebrities give a public voice to all of the nursing mothers in the country who have been shamed and ridiculed over what is a beautiful act that we should all be celebrating and supporting.
