Liam Payne is worried about the well-being of his One Direction band mate Zayn Malik. But is he concerned that the dark side of fame will make his friend decide to quit the band?
Zayn might have millions of female fans who absolutely adore him, but not all of his Twitter followers are Directioners. When a few trolls decided to bash Zayn's Muslim background by labeling him a "terrorist," he got so upset that he temporarily quit Twitter in hopes of avoiding all the hate. Zayn has also had to deal with reports that he's cheating on his girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
Now the singer's sensitive nature has his band mates worried - after all, what if the Twitter taunts start to get worse? One day Zayn Malik could decide that he's had enough, and he might see quitting One Direction as the only path to peace and happiness.
Liam Payne recently voiced his concerns about Zayn by saying this:
"The only person I really worry about is Zayn, because I don't think he's quite accustomed to all of this.
He's had a terrible time on Twitter. I don't think he's quite adjusted to it yet, I'm sure he'll get it. He's my best mate. I've got to look out for him."
Zayn should feel incredibly lucky to have a friend who cares about him so much, and it's likely that the rest of One Direction would also be there for him if he needs them.
Liam might not know what it feels like to be labeled a terrorist because of his religion, but at least he has some idea of what Zayn is going through. He's currently dealing with a bit of negative press himself since he was linked to singer Leona Lewis so soon after breaking up with Danielle Peazer.
Hopefully Liam is right about Zayn eventually adjusting to fame. If Zayn quits 1D, he won't just be upsetting the millions of Directioners that admire him - he'll be letting his haters know that they've won.
