Dancing With the Stars dance pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have been dating for a few months now and things are going well. They are also facing-off on the new "All-Stars" season of DWTS, which just completed its second week. How are the two balancing romance and competition?
Maks and Peta chatted with People about competing against one another yet being happy together off-set. Peta says, "We don't take work home with us. We leave it here. I think that's the best thing to do." Maks adds, "We're not competing against anybody. We're competing against each other," pointing to his partner Kirstie Alley. Fans know that Maks and Kirstie have a very playful dynamic, but they do have their squabbles. For the most part, the two seem to truly adore one another and Maksim says his focus is on Kirstie, not on the other couples.
Peta Murgatroyd is partnered with Gilles Marini this season, and the expectations are sky-high for this pair. Gilles says that he has really gotten to know Maks and his brother Val Chmerkovskiy this season and he loves them both. At the end of the day, though, everybody is focused on the mirror-ball trophy waiting at the finish line. Peta says it's a healthy competition and she and Maks are keeping their personal feelings off the dance floor. She says, "I want to win again. [Maksim] wants to win. But you know, I don't care about that. He doesn't care that I want to win. We all want to win!"
So, just who will win Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars this season? After the Week 2 elimination many would say that this season is going to be full of shocking and painful eliminations. It's an incredibly talented cast and many think it is quite likely some of the favorites will cancel one another out when it comes to getting the votes. Do Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley have a shot at sticking around for a bit? Can Gilles Marini overcome his injuries and lead Peta Murgatroyd to a back-to-back win? Tune in to DWTS Monday nights on ABC to see who stays and who goes.
