Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino had a rough time during season 4 and season 5 of Jersey Shore. He just wasn't himself and as it turns out, he had been dealing with an addiction to prescription pain medication. Luckily, he entered rehab following season 5 and has been clean ever since.
"It was a really special year for me because something that was just so hard to do in my life," Mike said of his sobriety during an appearance on The Ellen Show. "My buddies and my brothers helped me get through it and like I said, I'm stronger for it today and probably the healthiest I've been since I was 21."
Mike's sobriety is extremely impressive. For an addict, it is extremely difficult to be in a house full of people who are constantly drinking but Mike got through it and if he can do that, what can't he do?
Mike's co-stars haven't always got along with him but now that he's staying clean of drugs and alcohol, he's a new man and they are loving him for it. Ronnie told Ellen, "He was great to be around. He was fun. He was active. It was just great to have him in the house." Sobriety seems to fit Mike well and it's great to hear that he has so much support from his co-stars.
Pauly also had several nice things to say about the new Mike. "I was happy to see that he went to rehab and when he came back, I had my best friend back. I was just happy to have Mike back."
That says it all! Mike is back and better than ever. Don't miss his Jersey Shore season 6 debut tomorrow night at 10/9c.
