Gary Shirley is having a hard time being a single daddy. After his three-year-old's mother, Amber Portwood, was sentenced to five years in prison after failing to complete a drug rehab program, he was left alone and it hasn't been easy on him.
Gary tells In Touch Weekly, "I'm doing the best I can." Since word came out that Leah has yet to see her mom, some fans felt as though Gary was in the wrong. However, he is just trying to protect her the best way he knows how and besides, prison is no place for a three-year-old.
Gary is trying his hardest to be the best dad possible for little Leah and while she's a great kid, parenting isn't always easy and sometimes, his emotions about the situation get the best of him.
"The last time I cried was two weeks ago," Gary admits. "It's so important to have help with Leah, and people aren't always there. It's very frustrating." Gary certainly could use an extra hand here and there and hopefully, his family and friends can rally around him and help him and Leah through this difficult time.
