Fifty Shades of Grey fans will surely remember back in the day—circa two weeks ago—when Justin Bieber's name was being bandied about online as a possible contender for the coveted role of Christian Grey. The rumor was quickly revealed as nothing more than a hoax resulting from a joke Biebs made in an interview. But was he really joking? Or does the "Boyfriend" singer harbor, in his heart of hearts, an absurd fantasy—er—secret desire to play Anastasia Steele's suave, sadistic boyfriend? Unbelievably enough, it's beginning to look that way.
Inexplicably, the teen idol of the millennium has suddenly started sporting a bizarre get-up onstage during his Believe tour. In fact, he seems to be "struttin' his stuff with all the right gear to be Christian Grey. He is wearing a downright real BDSM bondage suit."
Yikes.
JB's eccentric concert costume does indeed have a definite sadomasochistic cast. It's a clingy black leather jumpsuit complete with a panoply of strategically placed zippers on the front and sides—and possibly the back as well. There's even a zipper that runs from his neck all the way down to his crotch. In fact, the official 50 Shades of Grey website features photos of JB's kinky outfit accompanied by the somewhat cartoonish caption:
"Bieber Bizzare Bondage Batsuit Baffles All On Tour!"
Good grief. Of course, Justin's ensemble does raise some legitimate questions as well as eyebrows. What, if anything does his new outfit mean? Or is it just another Bieber prank?
Rumor has it that the Teen Dream is angry that people dismissed the idea of him portraying the sexy, sophisticated sadist Christian Grey as just too absurd, and the SMBD outfit, which he debuted at his L.A. concert, is his way of throwing a tantrum. Or not. Maybe it's more of an audition. Or a combination of both.
"...the Biebs is pissed," the rumor mill maintains, "People say he is not old enough to play the role of Christian. That is exactly the reason that [he] is wearing the outrageous Bondage Suit... Justin Bieber is the superstar of the planet. He rules the world and if he wants to play Christian Grey he can do it."
