Now that she is behind bars, Amber Portwood has a lot of time on her hands. The former Teen Mom has time to reflect on the decisions that she made and try to better herself. Although she hasn't been able to see her daughter yet, she is already taking steps to assure that she is a good mother when she emerges from prison.
A source told Radar Online, "The prison offers parenting classes and Amber was quick to sign up for them too - if it helps her be a better mom to Leah, then she thinks it's worth doing."
Obviously, parenting classes are just the first step for Amber. She still has a lot of anger issues that she needs to work out and even talks with Dr. Drew about these issues on her upcoming prison special to air this coming Tuesday.
While the parenting classes may help, Amber is also finding solace through writing. She is rumored to keep a daily journal of her thoughts and even writes a few letters to her daughter.
The source that talked to Radar also mentioned that Amber Portwood hopes to use her unfortunate situation to better herself. Now that she has taken up writing, perhaps she should work on a memoir of her life. Farrah Abraham recently published her memoir which made it to the New York Times Best-Sellers list. Amber may not be the most liked Teen Mom, but she has a unique story that could certainly help other young girls.
